If you do not want to hire a professional to do the installation, you need to study carefully the guidelines in installing the fixture by yourself. Since the work can be quite challenging, you need to have a lot of patience and determination to finish the whole task. However, when all is said and done, it is not all too difficult and with a bit of patience and DIY knowledge you can do it and save some money in the process as well.

Here are the main tips in doing the job by yourself.

Keep the Materials at Hand

Installing your UPVC French doors require that you have with you some important DIY tools. You need the power drill in creating holes for the attachment of your door, saws, screwdrivers, hammers and mallets, some nails, shims, tape measure, and carpenter's square and level. Have all these things ready before you start the work. For safety purposes, you need to bring your goggles with you while working to ensure that no falling debris will lodge into your eyes causing you any accidents.

Prepare the Area

Using your tape measure and carpenter's square and level, mark the location of the edges of your UPVC French doors. Do not start creating holes or drilling the wall without making your marks first. Using a pencil or a marker, measure the length and the height of the fixture and mark the dimensions in your wall. You might be tempted to do a short cut by doing all the drilling without measuring. Fight the temptation however, otherwise, you might commit mistakes that are difficult to correct once done. When you are sure of the right measurements, you can start the process of installing the door frame.

Install the Frame

When everything is ready, you can install the new frame. Keep the screws and shims loose to allow adjustments in case you need it. Try opening and closing the UPVC French doors several times and see if it hangs anywhere. The process should be smooth. Once you see that everything works well, you can then permanently affix the screws and shims for a final adjustment.

These doors are not difficult to install and you can do it on your own in a relatively short time. If you have a set of spare hands from one of your friends or relatives, it will make your project much easier, however even on your own you can do a good job of it.
